La Giara

A small cluster of private houses, enjoys an unique view that is lost forever in the Tuscan hills. Among them is La Giara, a splendid villa, with its private garden and swimming pool, has been converted into a house, whose restoration and furnishings recall the charm of the past.

The geographical location of the village gives a very pleasant climate. It is warm during the winter but cool and breezy even in the hottest summers.

La Giara, although its original core of the twelfth century, has undergone expansions and improvements over the centuries. The central part, for example, began in the thirteenth century and enlarged in 500, in 700 it became the summer residence of the Bishop of Florence. In fact it was the bishop who decided to build the small chapel of the villa and to decorate most of the rooms.

The rooms on the ground floor, kitchen, lounge and dining room have several doors that open onto the outdoor terraced area on the panoramic side of the villa, which is covered with white gravel and is furnished for eating out. This area is shaded by large trees, like huge umbrellas to protect against the sun.

The beautiful garden and the swimming pool are part of the private area for exclusive use of villa guests. The only part in common with another house in the village is the parking area, located behind the villa. The parking area is situated on the opposite side of where the garden is. La Giara, although it is part of a village and has another house adjacent to its walls, can guarantee absolute privacy. The beautiful terraced garden stretch down towards the swimming pool area, with sun beds and furnished in teak with coffee tables perfect for having an ‘aperitif’. Walking down from this area, a pathway with fruit and olive trees, leads to a nicely fenced vegetable garden.

In the evening, the lighting system of the garden creates a striking effect, with lights positioned under the olive trees, highlighting different forms in a magical way. The surroundings of the villa, offer quiet streets on which to venture on foot or by bicycle.
