The main entrance door leads into the living room, furnished with a glass topped table, 2 sofas seating 3 people and a fireplace. The living room is adorned by pieces of antique wooden furniture and the utmost beautiful paintings of the famous German painter, Diefenbach, who lived on the island at the beginning on the 19th century. Today, Diefenbach’s memory lives on in a small museum dedicated to him inside the charterhouse of Sant Giacomo, located in the town of Capri. The living room opens into the dining area, which is furnished with a large dining room table seating 8 people. 3 windows face the beautiful garden. The kitchen, also located on the ground floor, next to the dining room, is equipped with a dishwasher, refrigerator, freezer, 5-range stovetop, and an oven. The ground floor also offers a laundry room with a washing machine and half bathroom.

21 steps lead up to the first floor, which comprises the sleeping area. The first floor consists of 5 bedrooms all with large marble en-suite facilities. 1 twin bedroom with a small window and built-in wardrobe has a small bathroom with shower box decorated with beautifully painted wallpaper. A first, double bedroom with iron beds enjoys a fireplace and a window facing the sea, while it’s bathroom offers a bathtub and window. The master bedroom, with a Baldachin bed, fireplace, and separate closet space, has access onto a small terrace through a set of French doors, where a built-in stone bench, shaded by Mediterranean vegetation, rests. The master bathroom enjoys a bathtub. The second double bedroom offers twin beds, a built-in wardrobe and a small window. Sliding doors access the bathroom with shower box. The third double bedroom (actually fourth, if we count the Master) has an iron bed, built-in wardrobe, and two windows offering sea views. This fifth bedroom also has an en-suite bath, while a sixth is found in the corridor/hallway. One of the non-twin bedrooms can also be converted into a twin bedroom. The first floor also offers a fully equipped, second kitchen, with a dishwasher, refrigerator, freezer, 5-range stovetop, and oven. The 2nd floor accesses enormous outdoor terrace spaces, approx. 13,000 square feet in all, offering outside dining areas, lounge chairs and tables, hammocks benches, a swimming pool (5x7 meters, 1.4 meters deep (approx. 4 feet deep), and external night lights. Great outdoor dining facility and wonderful spaces for a party or event.

The second floor accesses an enormous paved terrace, wherefrom you can admire wonderful views of different parts of Capri: Castiglione, Monte di Capri, the Charter house of San Giacomo, and the Bay of Marina Piccola. The views are gorgeous, especially at night when the entire village is lit. The property offers enchanting views and a very romantic atmosphere. The white-column terrace, with its night-lights, is partly shaded, and is the ideal place to spend your time in this beautiful outdoor environment. The terrace is furnished with a ceramic-topped iron table for dining and 12 wooden lounge chairs, hammocks, table and chairs. 17 steps lead to the top terrace, where the pool and outdoor shower is located. The swimming pool (7x5 meters x 4ft deep) is set in an amazingly panoramic position overlooking the island. The garden is planted with geranium plants and offers a corner equipped with sun umbrellas, tables, and chairs.

A path of steps leads up through a very cured terrace garden, situated on four different levels. The garden is planted with a wonderful mix of fruit trees, such as olives and lemons, cactuses and island flowers. A line of white columns, in typical Caprese-style, is shaded by flowers and welcomes guests by the entrance.

This magnificent villa is located a 10-15 minute walk from the Piazzetta (main square) and the center of Capri. Fantastic, panoramic views over the entire town and the Bay of Marina Piccola can be enjoyed from any point along the property. Villa Il Fortino is reached by following a small, pedestrian walkway leading from the main square, though the historical center of Capri. From the pedestrian walkway, once you reach the foot of the property, there are 92 steps approximately that lead up to the main gate from where you can either take a private lift or walk up the 72 steps more. However, the panoramic views, its perfumed gardens, and the multi-level terraces and pool deck are worth the walk, as the property takes advantage of an enormous, outdoor space (approx. 130,000 square feet).
