Located an hour away from Aix-en-Provence or Avignon, Simiane-la-Rotonde, the "city of character", is regarded as being one of the loveliest hill-top villages in Haute Provence. Thanks to its high altitude (600-700 m), the village folk are able to enjoy some cool respite from the blazing hot summer sun. It is said the sun shines 300 days a year, a claim that appears to be supported by the installation of telescopes at the Observatory of St. Michel.
Guests generally arrive in Paris at Charles de Gaulle airport (CDG) and transfer to the high speed TGV train headed for Avignon (approx. 2h40m). Once in Avignon, a car hire is suggested to drive to the villa.
Other options include flying into Marseille (MRS) or Nice (NCE) and then renting a car.
There is also a small airport in Avignon that has some flights from London and can also accommodate private jets
Not far is the small village of Banon, which was made famous by its tasty goat cheese delicately wrapped in a dried cedar leaves and tied with a raffia ribbon. There is also a traditional music festival from mid-July to mid-August.
