From the minute you land in Italy to the second you leave, you will experience a lifestyle experience that you'll assuredly look back on with delight. Your on-site property manager will be delighted to arrange for a helicopter to pick you up at the airport or he'll happily send a car and chauffeur. If you decide you'd rather come in your own car, or pick up a hire car, that's fine too – the staff is available to make your holiday easy.

When you arrive, you'll be shown the house and the pool, then be given time to settle in comfortably as drinks are being poured and dinner is being prepared. You will then be served by candlelight when you are ready to eat. We will ensure this holiday starts as it intends to go on - in delicious, spoiling indulgence! Your chef will be on hand with menu suggestions each day. He'll take your orders for breakfast, a light lunch and dinner, or he'll hand everything over to you if you have an urge to do the cooking in the shining, professional kitchen.

The first floor has four suites created to guarantee you maximum wellness. The two suites and the two junior suites are a mix of elegance, class and charm. The heart of the villa is the spacious sitting room where you can relax on the luxurious sofas and armchairs by the fireplace.

The location is ideal for grapes: they've been grown on these hills for well over two thousand years. The Decugnano dei Barbi estate produces a range of world class wines. The honeyed velvet Pourriture Noble is ideal with a sliver of the chef’s favorite almond cake, enjoyed as the sun sets on yet another perfect day at Villa Barbi.

If you want a massage or a facial, or would like to gallop the hills on horseback, it will be arranged for you. If you want to lounge by the pool in perfect tranquility, Barbi’s staff will ensure that's exactly what happens. There is always somebody there if you need them, and they are discreetly invisible if you don't.

Since 1973, the Barbi family has demonstrated their true passion and love for wine making. Their pride in maintaining the old values of wine production reflects every aspect of the process by utilizing manual labour, distinguishing their wine from competitors.

The villa's qualified English-speaking guide will tour you among breathtaking sceneries, beginning with the history of the Decugnano land and the Barbi family. Guests will learn about the origin of the soil (terroir), viticulture and vine training techniques, grape harvesting, methods of vinification, fermentation, wine storing, bottling and wine keeping in the cellar, together with the history of Orvieto and its surroundings.

After a visit to the modern part of the winery and a walk through the vineyards, guests will visit the Etruscan grottos where the red wine is kept in French oak barrels and the spumante wine is made through the Methode Champenoise.

Within the Medieval Chapel of Saint Mary of Decugnano, overlooking the valley with Orvieto in the distance, guests will experience the best three wines produced: the sparkling “Spumante”wine, the “ Il Decugnano” white (reserve) and “Il Decugnano” red (reserve), paired with local delicacies. A general understanding of how wine should be assessed will be given through visual, olfactory and taste analysis.
