Villa Ferraia

Villa Ferraia is located twenty-six kilometers south of Siena and sits on a secluded mountaintop. The name "Ferraia" originates from "ferro", or iron, which was mined here in medieval times.

Tastefully simple, yet luxuriant, each en-suite bedroom boasts a flat screen television, fine linens and towels, Florentine soaps and shampoos, and private baths, all to ensure a relaxing and comfortable stay. The television screens can also be utilized as computers and the villa has HADSL connection. Wireless connection inside the entire villa. A telephone and a fax machine are available in the reception area for emergency use only.

The attractively furnished dining room seats 27 guests. Outside the Tuscan conservatory, the domus provide a covered space where guests can eat or gather and enjoy the beauty of the gardens and surrounding forests while enjoying a leisurely aperitif before dinner.

A state-of-the-art kitchen with wood-burning oven, 2 acres of organic vegetable and herb gardens, and an 1800 square foot greenhouse greatly enhance the joy of Italian cooking. Adjoining the vegetable gardens is an outdoor kitchen and dining area where guests can join the chef in cooking the fresh vegetables in true Tuscan style. The pleasure gained from preparing a meal from the freshly picked vegetables can be enjoyed with a fine Tuscan wine (Cost of chef separate). To visit the organic garden and use the vegetables of the garden is necessary to ask at our chef.

A separate medieval stone building houses the library, a state of the art cinema and lounges to relax and enjoy a movie or a book. There is an extensive terrace around the cinema furnished with luxury Italian lounges that provide a wonderful panorama of the lush green forest that radiate peace. There are also several secluded sitting areas throughout the villa which can be used for moments of solitude.

Star gazers will delight in the observatory complete with a high-tech telescope far from the light pollution of modern civilization. A Meade LX200R 14inch research telescope has been installed complete with a seated viewing area and a 60 inch flat screen monitor. The local astronomy society is at our guests' disposal to explain the wonders of the skies above.

A large infinity pool overlooks the beautiful valley below. The adjacent change rooms and sauna are at the guests' disposal.. The external part of the complex is complete and includes three tubs heated to different temperatures, a frigidarium (cold), the tepidarium (tepid) and a caldarium (hot) nestled on the edge of the forest with the perfume of the nearby lemon and orange trees wafting past. Guests can start their circuit of the bath complex with a sauna in the fine Finish sauna, progress to the solar heated swimming pool and then to the roman styled tubs.

Villa Ferraia exudes such tranquility and natural beauty that it will be very tempting to just stay there, enjoying the fresh air, walking through the forest, toiling in the organic vegetable garden with the gardener, assisting the chef to prepare dinner or simply lazing around and listening to the sounds nature.
