Villa Description

Villa Canneto is a charming, elegant "home away from home" set in the middle of a lovely, large olive oil and wine-producing estate.

Located near the beautiful art city of Siena, the villa and surrounding grounds are owned by an ancient noble Sienese family.

Originally a 17th-century schoolhouse, Canneto has been carefully restored for maximum modern comfort, while retaining the original architectural features such as brickwork floors, vaulted ceilings and whitewashed walls that create a typical Tuscan feel.

Perfect for families, the home offers the attractive option of 2 independent living areas with garden access, each featuring an open kitchen, dining area and living room (1 with fireplace) on the ground floor.

The villa's pleasant grounds offer lovely views of the surrounding countryside. The large, bamboo-shaded terracotta terrace is perfect for enjoying afternoons and evenings with your friends and family, dining al fresco with the olive grove just beyond. The heavenly scent of the villa's rose bushes will follow you as you walk down the grassy garden path to the private pool. With its comfortable sun lounges and pretty landscaping, it's the perfect spot for a summer barbecue. A professionally maintained old-world Italian fruit, vegetable and flower garden is available for quiet walks—don't forget to pick some fruit for a delicious breakfast or snack!

Villa guests also have reserved access to the private tennis court on the estate.

Additional Information

Canneto is part of a large and ancient estate, and the beautiful main villa is located across the quiet, unpaved road in front of Canneto.

When they are home, the estate’s owners are happy to welcome Canneto’s guests to the main villa for a drink and a tour of the property’s private gardens. On request, a local country bus can stop at the villa and take guests directly to Siena.

The closest point of interest is the beautiful medieval town of Siena, great for shopping and dining. Built across several hills and valleys, you will find a bit of up and down while walking through the historical center. However, the lack of traffic makes it a wonderful place to stroll—even when packed with tourists, there is a quiet and easygoing feel. A must-see is the shell-shaped square called Il Campo, which is just as lively at night, and the perfect spot to relax at a café or bar with friends, or to enjoy an ice cream. The Campo is the focal point of the city as well as being the venue for the internationally renowned horse race, the Palio.

Nearby you can also visit Castelnuovo Berardenga, which has a famous Thursday local market. This charming village in the heart of the Chianti region also has many wineries on its outskirts that are perfect stops for tastings. The historic town of San Gimignano is a bit further, but well worth a visit!
